Safehaven eBook Ken Barnes

Three people flee into the mountains of East Tennessee after a major terrorist attack brings the country to its knees. There is Rhoda Jennings, a young woman who was raised by a survivalist-nut father, who is plenty capable of taking care of not only herself, but also her naive New Age boyfriend, Garth Manatee. Garth, a yoga instructor and healer, is totally unprepared for the many dangers that he will have to face in the new post-apocalyptic America. Then there is Tony, a macho biker who forms an unlikely alliance with Garth when they flee the city together. The mountains are not as safe as they had hoped. Transportation, food, and dealing with other survivors are not the only difficulties they face. And what is the strange thing that is beginning to happen to one of their dogs?
Safehaven eBook Ken Barnes
I bought this book because of the good reviews, but I ended up having to force myself to finish it. The three main characters are one-dimensional and unlikable. There are random things thrown in the book, such as a couple of rabid people who briefly show up out of nowhere and have nothing to do with the story. The dialogue and actions of some of the supporting characters are just unrealistic One example, a man who's been holding you hostage for weeks/months and who brutalizes and threatens you. When he's badly wounded and unconscious you don't run away, you nurse him back to health! I know you sometimes have to suspend belief when you're reading a story, but this was ridiculous. SPOILERS: The book contains gang-rape and homosexual rape and believe it or not, a talking dog. Yes, a talking dog that calls the main character "ma" and is so big she rides it like a horse. I'm sorry I spent the money on this and definitely won't be buying the sequel.Product details

Safehaven eBook Ken Barnes Reviews
Be very careful when ordering this product. It did not say it was a electronic version. I deleted it as soon as I became aware of this but will probably end up paying for it anyway. I did order the print version.
With all the doomsday, apocalyptic predictions this past year, this book was an interesting read. The good versus evil is definitely included, which of course makes for some twists that one might not expect. I enjoyed the characters, especially the animals. I am looking forward to the sequel and hope it is not too far away.
This is a great story of life after the disaster in TN and how people survived. The characters and settings come to life in the richly detailed description of their trials and journey. The book grabbed my attention from the beginning and I am anxiously awaiting the next installment.
great read, couldn't put it down, can't wait for a sequel. With so many people starting to think ahead and prepare for major disaster, this was especially interesting and a page turner for me. thanks Ken.........hurry up with the sequel.
I just finished the book and WOW !!! I felt that what Ken Barnes created were thoughts that project movie like images in my mind. Safehaven is an awesome novel that kept me wanting more. It totally grabbed my attention, making me want more. The time put into this novel really paid off as I thought it was a fun read and it put me right along the characters in the story. Ken, I can't wait for the sequel...I feel like I am going to burst from anticipation. In my honest as always opinion I feel that this was a terrific read and I can't wait for more. Ken, thank you for giving me something to look forward to., your favorite fan, Lori Hauck
After reading a few pages online, I couldn't wait to purchase Safehaven by Ken Barnes. I took Safehaven on my flight to visit family and could not put the book down. I have read many books and if you can get me past the first 5 pages, you have me my undivided attention for the entire book. Safehaven definitely had my attention. Safehaven was captivating, full of suspense, heartbreak, sadness, and laughter all rolled into one book. The story taking place in my home state made it more intriguing. the to be continued at the end made me go ahhhhhhh but also keeps me in suspense for the next book. Can't wait to read what happens next. lol I highly recommend Safehaven to all readers who love to sit back and enjoy a great novel. Kudos to Ken Barnes on a job well done!!! P.S. Ken hurry I am so ready for the next Safehaven!!! )
This book was absolutely wonderful! I live in Chattanooga, Tennessee so to know where the book was taking place made this a very unique read for me. However, even if this book had taken place in an area I wasn't familiar with, I still would have thoroughly enjoyed it. It kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the book from page one right up until I finished it. I can't wait for the sequel! I think this book would make a great movie or even television series. Just when I was sure one thing was going to happen, the total opposite occurred. This is a great book and I recommend it whole-heartedly. It's very unique and kept my attention throughout. Ken Barnes is a very talented and creative author. Again, I can't wait for the sequel! Great book!
